How to be a phenomenal dribbler in football
Although nowadays there is not as much dribbling in football like in the past, this particular skill will always be important part of this sport, and probably the most entertaining and creative thing in football. Here are 5 ways you can improve your dribbling ability.
1. Relax and know that if you have the ball on your feet, you have the control. You don't answer to the opponents, they answer to you.
2. Rhythm. Don't be static. Think about dribbling like it's dancing. So, make sure to be smooth when you change directions or when you decide to change your mind while you are in the middle of dribbling.
3. Upper body positioning. The dribbles are done with the legs but also with the upper body. This means that you can confuse the opponents with the direction your upper body is positioned to go, this is useful especially in the stepovers.
4. Eyes. The one thing you don't want to do is to telegraph your dribble. That way even if you execute perfectly, the defender will stop you very easy. If you are comfortable with the ball on your feet, if you practised cone drills and technique drills, you will have no problem looking one way so you can confuse the defender and then go to the other way.
5. Study. Watch football matches and see for yourself what kind of dribbles are suitable for specific situations. Once you figure that out, you will become much better dribbler and decision maker.
